Fact 1: First Guitar Was Invented in Ancient Egypt

Yes, you read it right. The very first guitar or a guitar-like instrument was created in Egypt. Though it did not look like the guitars that we have in the modern world today but that was the first design ever made of a guitar. This was back 3500 years ago when an artist called Har-Mose used a guitar. It was a 3-stringed guitar made from cleaned cedar and a rawhide soundboard.

Fact 2. World’s Smallest Guitar

The world’s tiniest guitar, made by Cernell University, New York for showcasing the novel technique which has a potential application in fiber optics, electronics, sensors, and displays is just of 10 microns. It is a twofold cutaway electric guitar that has 6 strings with each string’s diameter of around 50 nanometers. Though it is completely built to be played but due to its size, the instrument cannot be played by anybody like the regular guitar.

Fact 3. World’s Largest Functioning Guitar

Now that we know about the world’s tiniest guitar, lets delve into the world’s largest “functioning” guitar. The Texas Academy of Science and Technology has designed this masterpiece, the guitar that measures more that 13 meters in length, as per the Guinness Book of World Record. Isn’t this guitar fact astonishing? Thinking of a guitar that is has large as a tour bus. It weighs around 2255 lbs. It is a functioning guitar which one can actually play and generate the same pitch as well as sound of that of a regular guitar. It is a working guitar and not just a model.

Fact 4. Most Expensive Guitar Ever Sold

Guitar enthusiasts must know about the most expensive guitar ever sold fact as it is one of the kind events. The Fender made Stratocaster, also called “Reach Out to Asia Stratocaster” guitar’s sale was for raising funds for the causalities and victims of 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. This guitar had a unique, one of a kind decoration along with the signatures of several guitar icons like Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger and many more. So, along with the cause, the guitar’s uniqueness was sold for $2.8 million.

These electric guitar facts will blow your mind. The very first groundbreaking electric instrument was invented by a Swiss electrical engineer who was also a composer, Adolph Rickenback in 1932. The amplified string instrument revolutionized music and is an inspiration for several generations of musicians. The previously present guitars had great sound and with electric guitars revolution, the guitarists could play sounds that were previously not possible to achieve.

While the Fender Stratocaster sold the most expensive guitar in the history, Gibson decided to create a product that has extravagant features. With lavish materials, white SG, 400 precious stones, 1.6kg of 18k gold and more, Eden of Coronet guitar is the most luxurious guitar till date.

Fact 7. Ibanez Added the Seventh and Eighth Strings

Generally, guitars have 6 strings but there are now different brands that have seventh and eighth strings too. It was initiated by Ibanez brand when they came up with their guitar with seventh and eighth strings. They started having seventh string in their guitar from 1990 and bought in the eighth string in the year 2007. The 7-string guitar today has a low B string but it was initially designed to have a high A.

Fact 8. Fender Factory Makes 20,000 Miles of Guitar Strings a Year

The Fender brand is well-known for producing quality guitar strings. The Fender factory located in Corona, California, produces over 90000 strings a day. That amounts to 20000 miles of guitar strings a year by a single factory which is enough to circle the entire earth. This factory produces strings of different sizes, different alloy of metal, light-gauge strings, high-gauge strings and many more variety. Every guitar string has different recipe and it’s a closely kept secret.

Fact 9. A Man Once Married His Stratocaster

This might look like a crazy idea but the man, Chris Black, married his guitar for his love of another kind. He named his Stratocaster guitar as Brenda the Fenda. Isn’t that an amazing thing?
