Professionally known as Lizzo, Melissa Viviane Jefferson is an American rapper, songwriter, singer, musician, and actress. Lizzo was classically trained flutist by Claudia Momen for years, later she pursued rapping along with learning classical music. Since childhood, her interest in music was phenomenal. From school, to college to making a career in the industry, Lizzo has been an inspiration to many!

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Lizzo moved to Houston, Texas with her family when she was 10 years old. Later, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she started her career by recording hip hop music. Her studio album, “Cuz I Love You”, peaked on the US billboard on number four in 2019 which gained her a lot of mainstream success. Melissa graduated from Alief Elsik High school in 2006 after which she joined at the University of Houston where she studied classical music along with flute. But after her father’s death, she dropped out of college and tried hard to get a break in the music industry.

Since childhood, Lizzo showed a lot of interest in music. She learnt playing classical flute for years after which she went to become a rapper. During school, she along with her friends formed a music group where she started rapping. Post that, she performed with several music groups, like in 2012, one of her music groups released an album, “We Are the Chalice” which got recognition locally.

In 2019, she got her popularity from Lizzo new song “Cuz I Love You”. That was her career breakthrough as her album got the 6^th position on the Billboard 200 list.

Along with being a musician, she has been a fantastic actor who has worked on Amazon’s show “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls” and some more.
